East Gulf Coast Republican Assembly

STATEMENT OF PRINCIPLES


We, the members of the East Gulf Coast Republican Assembly, having joined ourselves together within the Republican Party to achieve our common goals, to give definition and strength to the Conservative movement within The United States of America, proudly affirm our belief and commitment in the following principles:
1. That we hold to Principles over politics.
2. That we commit to the words stipulated in the Declaration of Independence of The United States of America, That all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.
(a) That respect and the sanctity of all human Life is paramount.
(b) That foremost among the transcendent values is the individual’s use of our God-given free will, whence derives our right to be free from the restrictions of arbitrary force.
(c) That private property rights are fundamental to our Liberty.
3. That we commit to the words of Abraham Lincoln, That this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom and that government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth.
4. That we support the Constitution of The United States of America, in the tradition of the founding fathers, as the Supreme Law of the land, which was intended to empower government to fulfill its proper role, while restraining it from the concentration and abuse of power.
(a) That the genius of the Constitution - the division of powers - is summed up in the clause which reserves primacy to the several states, or to the people, in those spheres not specifically delegated to the Federal Government.
(b) That we shall preserve the Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America. The right to keep and bear arms is not only fundamental to the right of a citizen to self protection, but to preventing government tyranny. The right to keep and bear arms must be preserved without governmental infringement.
(c) That the purposes of government are to protect our freedom through the administration of Justice, the preservation of internal order, and the provision of national defense. And that when government ventures beyond these Constitutionally granted functions, it accumulates power which tends to diminish order and individual freedom.
(d) That Taxes shall serve only to pay for the enumerated Constitutional duties of government and that all Taxes shall be uniformly applied and consistent with Constitutional Principles, as our Forefathers intended.
5. That Liberty is indivisible, and that political freedom cannot long exist without economic freedom.
(a) That the market economy, based upon Capitalism and free enterprise, allocating resources by the free play of supply and demand, is the single economic system compatible with the requirements of personal freedom and constitutional government, and that it is at the same time the most productive supplier of human needs. And that government must be restrained from interfering with the functioning of our market economy.
6. That periods of freedom are rare in history, and can exist only when free citizens concertedly defend their rights against all enemies, and that we will have freedom only so long as the national sovereignty of The United States of America is secure and not bargained away, diluted, nor compromised.
(a) That the forces of Communism and the forces of Socialism (whether called Marxism, Stalinism, Leninism, Fascism, Welfare State, Planned Economy, Democratic Socialism, Dictatorship, National Socialism, Totalitarianism, Nazism, Despotism, Absolute Monarchy, Absolutism, Tyranny, Czarism, Autocracy, Totalitarian Government, or by any other name), are, at present, the greatest threats to our freedom.
7. That the first obligation of the federal government is to defend its people against our enemies. And that in order to protect our citizenry from the vicissitudes of an unstable world, the United States of America must retain the strongest defense system in the world with the singular objective of victory in every conflict and a complete authentic accounting or return of every person in our armed forces captured or missing in action.
(a) That The United States of America shall not be conciliatory nor tolerate any act of aggression from our enemies, individuals or foreign governments, against our country or any American citizen anywhere in the world. And that The United States of America will not stop until the aggressor is brought to Justice.
8. That we affirm the Constitutional prerogative of Congress alone to declare war. The United States of America military shall only be used to protect the national security and interests of The United States of America; and only under the flag of The United States of America and under the control of its military service commanders, executive orders or other international treaties to the contrary not withstanding.
9. That we shall return our schools to the teachings of our history, culture and language in order to imbue our children with an appreciation of and participation in our free democratic republic, and additionally to prepare them to lead responsible and productive lives by the teaching of traditionally accepted fundamentals in all disciplines.
10. That The United States of America’s domestic and foreign policies shall strongly project and adhere to the wisdom and legacy of our founding fathers and the Principles herein stated.
