Message from the EGCRA President

Thank you for visiting our web site! Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Stan Smith.

I am currently the president of the East Gulf Coast Republican Assembly. We are a chapter of the Texas Republican Assembly and an affiliate of the National Federation of Republican Assemblies. The NFRA calls itself, "The Republican Wing of the Republican Party." The National Federation of Republican Assemblies was born from the California Republican Assembly, an organization founded in 1932 and chartered in 1935. After the elections of 1996 the CRA began to move toward a national federation.

In 1998 a central meeting place was established and representatives from various states met, including a representative from our own Harris County Republican party. From that meeting the Texas Republican Assembly became a part of the NFRA and was chartered as TRA in August of 1998. The EGCRA had its first meeting in September of 1999. We then became a part of the TRA delegation to the first NFRA convention which was held in Kansas City in October of 1999. Two of our board members attended that national delegation of over 400 delegates from all over the country.

As of March 15th 2006 the East Gulf Coast Assembly disassociated from the Texas Republican Assembly, and by extension, the National Federation of Republican Assemblies; and is operating independently under the state charter, it holds, as a general purpose PAC.

The East Gulf Coast Republican Assembly is establishing our standards to those precedents set by the founding organization, and to those established by the people who founded our great nation under the laws given to us by almighty God. It is our intention, to the best of our ability, to conduct our activities under His devine inspiration and leadership. In brief, those ideals are represented in the following guidelines:

Liberty demands the greatest of self-restraint and INDIVIDUAL responsibility. As a society, liberty is the greatest gift we can leave to future generations.

Conservatism without the moral anchor defined by God is baseless and void. We assert that God's law, as defined in the Holy Scriptures, is supreme in our land. Our laws and system of justice must demonstrate a reverence for devine law in the public forum, without prejudice to any single denomination.

Government is a servant of the people and our candidates for public office should also exemplify the spirit of servanthood. Our founders were precise in their beliefs regarding the responsibilities of the citizen versus the obligations of government. Our constitution must be interpreted in the light of the founders' intent. Our constitution is an instrument of delegated powers; thus our federal government only has the powers granted to it by the constitution and all other power is constrained by that instrument.

We hold to principle over politics. We must elect and support statesmen over unprincipled politicians.

We must restrain ourselves from borrowing from the future to finance indulgences of today.

We must protect the institution of marriage as ordained by God, being one man and one woman joined in a holy contract, as the cornerstone of civilization.

We oppose any form of world government, including our involvement in the United Nations. All of America's officials, both elected and unelected, must always act to preserve the sovereignty and security of these United States.

Autonomous states are a protection against federal usurpation of citizens' rights, and we must reinstate the state's sovereign authority over public lands within their borders.

We believe the responsibility of citizenship does not end at the ballot box, but rather the price of liberty is eternal vigilance. The good citizen is one who actively works to insure the blessings of liberty for our posterity. This includes the "duty" (not just right) to, in the words of our forefathers, be "well-regulated" in the handling and use of firearms, and to guard with diligence against any and all attempts to restrain private training of, ownership or wearing of those arms.

Our country is in crisis. The economy flourishes but our families and our society are in turmoil.

We in the East Gulf Coast Chapter of the Texas Republican Assemblies are committed to the above mentioned principles. We are committed to helping leave our country better off than when we first entered it. We are committed to helping candidates who are honest, hard working and support our conservative values. I encourage you to email us today or call our phone number at 281-648-7686. Please email or call to find out more about how you can be part of a national movement sweeping the country, the Republican Assembly "The Republican Wing of the Republican Party".

God Bless you and your family,

Stan Smith, President
East Gulf Coast Republican Assembly
